Sales channels have an order expiry delay that ensure that orders that are not completed do not hold the available products forever. This is obviously a must have for online sales channels and this delay is usually set around 15 minutes.

However, in case of fraudulent behavior, a product could be kept for ever by adding items to the cart and removing them over and over, without any possibility for the institution to regain control over these products. It is now possible to set an order maximum order lifespan. This value should be greater than the order expiry delay and large enough to ensure that a normal purchase process can be achieved within that time. While the order expiry delay can be reset by modifying the content of the order, the maximum lifespan is a strict delay, so the order will eventually be abandoned, if not closed in the meantime.
