We are rolling out a new stand-alone device hub manager that will replace the Firefox Kit. The main advantage is that the device manager is not packaged along with a specific version of Firefox ESR and you can now choose to use and keep up with the latest version of Firefox, even none ESR versions.

Solution

The Device Hub Manager has been rebuilt to allow for an independent installation, which will work with any Firefox version and in particular the latest. This change provides a much simpler and secure deployment of Firefox and ensures that you can easily keep up with the latest version of Firefox, e.g., with automatic updates.

Getting started

Make sure you have installed the latest version of Firefox before installing the new Device Manager Hub, with this solution you become the owner of the browser use and setting to access to S-360.

Installing the Device Hub Manager

  1. Download the Device Hub Manager installer from the specified location to your local computer.

  2. Run the installer from your local computer with administrative rights.

  3. Confirm the Microsoft UAC prompt when it appears to start the installation.
The installer will create a folder at the following location C:\Program Files\DeviceHubManager

  4. After the installation, Windows may in some cases require a computer restart.

Testing the Device Hub Manager

After the installation, the Device Hub Manager should start automatically.

Here are items you can check to validate that the Device Hub Manager is running correctly.

  • A purple SECUTIX icon should be displayed in the system tray.

If it does not appear, you can manually start it from the installation folder (C:\Program Files\DeviceHubManager), by using the desktop shortcut or from the program list.

  • A new SECUTIX certificate should be listed in the Firefox list of certificates.

  • Accessing the URL (http://127.0.0.1:8558) should detect your workstation's name

Additional information and advice

  • The Device Hub Manager will automatically start with windows staring.
